New Bridge to Connect Nusa Ceningan and Nusa Lembongan Set for Construction
The neighboring islands of Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan, located just southeast of Bali, are currently connected by the well-known Yellow Bridge — a small, narrow bridge that only accommodates pedestrians and motorbikes. As tourism and trade continue to grow, local authorities have identified the need for a stronger and wider bridge that can also support four-wheeled vehicles. The new bridge is expected to improve island connectivity, boost local logistics, and enhance mobility between the two islands, ensuring smoother transport of goods and supplies for both residents and businesses.
Construction Plan and Budget
The construction of the Ceningan–Lembongan Bridge is planned to begin in 2026.
According to official statements, the total project budget will reach approximately IDR 112 billion, which includes the bridge structure and new connecting roads leading to Bias Munjul Port on Nusa Ceningan.
The Klungkung Regency Government has also allocated around IDR 9 billion for land acquisition, covering both private land and limited mangrove areas affected by the project.

Technical Details
- Length: Around 400 meters
- Width: Approximately 9 meters, designed for cars and motorbikes
- Land acquisition: About 18–19 ares (≈1,800–1,900 m²) for new access roads
- Environmental impact: Around 6.45 ares of mangrove forest area will be affected, requiring approval from Indonesia’s Ministry of Environment and Forestry
This new bridge will complement the existing Yellow Bridge, which will remain open for light vehicles and pedestrians.
Benefits for the Community and Tourism
Once completed, the Ceningan–Lembongan Bridge will have a wide range of positive impacts on both islands, including:
- Easier access for cars, logistics, and emergency services
- Improved transportation of goods and lower delivery costs
- Enhanced tourism mobility between the two islands
- Stronger connection to Bias Munjul Port, improving sea transport and cargo flow
The bridge is expected to further stimulate tourism development in the Nusa Islands, making it easier for visitors to explore the stunning beaches, coral reefs, and dive sites that have made Lembongan and Ceningan world-famous.
Environmental & Cultural Considerations
Local authorities have stated that all construction will be carried out with careful attention to environmental sustainability and mangrove preservation. Impact assessments and consultations with local communities will continue throughout the planning process to ensure that the new infrastructure benefits everyone — while protecting the islands’ natural beauty.
